Stubborn Faith

And here we are…

New year and new possibilities. That is the beauty of a human mind and heart: the ability to perceive a possible positive outcome.

This year, I need just one thing from you… a stubborn faith. I came across a quote on Facebook saying, “Attitudinal Autonomy - When what other people think no longer stops you from doing what you want.” I initially thought that it was just a fancy saying for “stubbornness,” but I wouldn’t mind adding a little bit of sprinkle sprinkle to start off the year.

Who shall inspire us on today’s blog? A man that comes to mind is Noah, in Genesis 6-7. The Lord spoke to Noah about His disgruntlement with the condition of man on earth and said He would destroy the earth as a result. Now, above God giving Noah details and measurements on how to build a boat to protect himself and his family, God confided in Noah. The world was going on about their sin and enjoying their fall, but God found a created mortal He could trust with the burden of His heart. As though that was not a marvelous thread of their relationship, He gives Noah enough time and space to be able to build shelter and refuge for himself and his family. In the mundane daily tasks of preparing for the flood, Noah was scolded and mocked for believing in future destruction… until it really happened.

Unless the Lord confides in you about His burdens and plans, everything looks like a silly joke. I need you to spend time with God this year. I need you to factor Him into your schedule and set an alarm for your meeting with Him. I need you to listen more than you speak, and not only that, I need you to obey. I need you to be strong and courageous and do as He says, no matter what others say. I need you to hear the Lord once and have faith. I need your faith to be so stubborn, especially when it looks stupid. I need you not to be afraid of looking stupid.

May you have a stubborn faith this year.

May you find refuge in the one whose plans are to prosper you.

May live a life of surrender and repentance.

May this leap year fulfil your heart with the only water you need, Jesus.

Happy New Year.
